Kissing the Ground

My friend Rosemary Harris Lytle asked me to kiss the ground of Africa until she could get here. Rosemary, it took until our last full day, but here's the kiss, a goodbye kiss.

  1. I cannot remember the first time that it occurred to me how much I loved Africa; a place I was discovering because I was discovering myself and a place that I fell in love with sight unseen.

    The Motherland Africa!

I cannot remember the first time that I decided that if I ever got there, the first thing I would do is fall on my knees and kiss the ground!

Maybe not at the airport -- but in some sacred beautiful spot, like you did my Dear Friend/Other Pastor.

This is a beautiful photo! Thank you!

Science has shown that we are all descended from Africa which makes our connection and this photo just all the sweeter.

I just needed someone to kiss the ground til I get there. As you know, C-Rose didn't fulfill my ground-kissing request when she visited Ghana and Senegal.

But now I feel one step closer.

Your blog is fabulous and the trip sounds like the blessing of a lifetime! So glad to have the Broadbent-Bells home!

  2. PS -- Being surprised by you and your Dad worshiping at Christ Temple on Sunday is the icing on a big ole beautiful cake!
